Munster Chess Union
I am happy to announce that the new league system has gone live just in time for Rounds 5 and 6. Team Captains have been issued with login details and a short document describing how results are updated. For the terminally curious or forgetful team captains you can get a copy here in the leagues section.
There is also a new results page in the leagues section Div 1 New. This displays the up to date results directly from the database as soon as the team captains report them.
One difference you may notice is the status column. When this is 1 it indicates that only one team has reported the result. When it shows 2 it confirms that both teams have reported and results match. A status of 3 indicates that the reported results don't match and the league controller will have to resolve the issue.
At a meeting of the MCU Committee on 18th December 2014, it was resolved that Mr John Alfred be suspended from membership for a period of 6 months for bringing the MCU into disrepute. It was also resolved that Mr Alfred must demonstrate that he subscribes to the aims and objectives of the MCU and is willing to comply with its rules and regulations in order to reactivate his membership
Pat Twomey informs me that CCYMS Chess Club now meet on Wednesday nights at the SMA Hall, Wilton, Cork. New members are welcome and you can contact Pat at 087-785 1387 for details.

The Committee would like to announce that Gerry Graham has been appointed as our ICU rep this year.
Ennis and Adare are representing Ireland at the European Club Cup in Bilbao. Rory Quinn's Blog has links to several websites providing coverage. He has also been providing updates on the Ennis matches.
The relatively lively 2014 AGM took place last Sunday 7th September at the Springfort Hall Hotel, New Twopothouse, Mallow at 8:00 pm.

There were several changes to the Constitution and there are also some rule changes for the coming league season.
Congratulations to Diana Mirza on obtaining the WCM Title for her performance at the recent Olympiad. A brilliant achievement in her first Olympiad at the age of fourteen.
A form has been added to the clubs page which allows clubs to submit their details for inclusion.
While the clubs listed initially are those which already participate in the Munster Leagues the basic aim of the MCU is to promote chess in Munster. Therefore we are happy to list details from any eligible chess clubs throughout Munster.
