There will be a rapid play chess tournament organised by John Cassidy in Doolin on January 16th starting at 1:00 pm. Prize money of �500 is on offer. Download the flyer for details.
Rounds 5 and 6 of Division 1 will take place on 10th January in the Charleville Park Hotel. Division 2 will start on the same day and location.
Cork A, last year's winners, are the only team in Division 1 on full points from 4 matches. They are closely followed by Ennis A on 3.5 points and these two are due to meet in Round 6.

We are publishing the following notice on behalf of the Munster Junior Chess Committee.
To all concerned juniors and guardians please note that the Munster Junior Championships 2016 are being held in September not January. This notice has been advertised on the ICU web site since September 2015.
The reason for this message from the MJCC is to avoid any confusion which may arise because of another junior competition that may be held in January. This competition despite being referred to as the Munster junior championships is NOT the official Munster Juniors. This competition is being arranged by another group in a private capacity but they have no official mandate from the recognised chess authorities. This competition will NOT BE GRADED. This means that any winner in an age category will NOT be titled, in other words, will NOT be the Munster Junior Champion. This message is important so that juniors and guardians alike are not disappointed and completely clear about this situation. The competition will be rated. The MJCC welcomes any extra competitions for juniors to help prepare them for upcoming events such as Bunratty and Cork and the All Ireland Junior championships.
All current holders of junior titles from this year (2015) should keep their trophies until next September (2016). Under no circumstances are the trophies to be presented for this other competition as they are the property of the official Munster Junior Chess Committee which is currently chaired by John Cassidy. These trophies are only for officially sanctioned competitions.
Any queries in this regard can be directed to John Cassidy (Chairperson of the MJCC) or Noel Keating (Secretary of the MJCC) for clarification. If anyone has further doubts regarding the Munster Junior Chess Committee they can refer their queries directly on to the chairman of the Munster Chess Union (MCU) Mr. Alan Salsac who will gladly clarify any details in this regard.
